But that's rather due to wordpad, that was even more behind than the RTF format specification. doc format and RTF files opened in Wordpad looked different from what you have seen in MS Word. It was always missing a few features of the binary. But that spec was a snapshot of a certain point in time and Micrososft was constantly extending their understaning of RTF with every new version of MS Word. There is something like a 200 pages specification of this format. RTF is a plain text markup format pushed by Microsoft as an exchange format for text documents. Your nickname makes me think that a few words about the philosophy of RTF, OpenOffice and odf would be appropriate: Philosophy wrote:How come that such a big company as Sun is unable to make good RTF editor at least? So can anyone here make any suggestion to recover file?ĭo I have to use some special hard-disk tools like undelete etc This is shame on whole Sun Microsystems (or/and who is developer)! How come that such a big company as Sun is unable to make good RTF editor at least? I'm not sure if it is possible to recover last part of a file. So, I just attach a file and you can try to open it yourself. Attached corrupted rtf file is zipped because it was too big original

It shows only some part of file, that's all. So, the problem is that when I open this RTF in OpenOffice now, Tried to open RTF in some other editors like WordPad etc, What happened is that when I tried to reopen it just some moments later. So then I typed some more pages, and saved and closed file. So OpenOffice asked that "RTF file format differs from ODT." There was some checkbox,īut anyway I removed checkbox from chat odt-file-format warning, and just saved to RTF. I created a file, started typing it, then opened save dialog box, chose RTF file format,
